David Mancuso was an early inspiration when I started collecting records seriously as a DJ. This playlist is taken from the top 100 Loft Charts from the book - Last Night A DJ Saved My Life. Not the rarest of tracks here but it always serves as a benchmark for tracks that I consider DJing and/or releasing as far as quality is concerned. David was such an innovator in the way he programmed music for the night, setting up the soundsystem, and building a unique community of love and spirituality. Sometimes it seems like collectors and DJs today all fall victim to trying to get the rarest and most expensive record (myself included) but what we should concentrate on is the song.
